MAX FRIZ - BMW Engineer
Max Friz was a young talented engineer who worked for a engines building company called Bavarian Motor
Works. In 1917 this merged with another aircraft maker and concentrated on building aircraft engines. Bavarian Motor Works was later called as BMW in short and Max Friz at the age 33, started working as a
chief designer for engines produced by BMW.
Max Friz first achievement in this field was his 6-cylinder BMW IIIa engine, the outcome of his design was very good and BMW became famous on engine production. soon after the world war aircraft engine was banned and BMW started concentrating in motorcycle engine production.
BMW started producing its first motorcycle engine in the year 1922, for Victoria motorcycle and this was also done by Max Friz in Nuremberg. since BMW was
successful with its motorcycle engine production, Max Friz suggested BMW to enter motorcycle industry. BMW agreed and Max Friz designed a
remodel of his first BMW motorcycle, with his BMW Boxer engine called the Helios it was built in 1922. It had suspension problems so it dint sell much.
After that Max Friz came up with R32 model and it was deeply appreciated by BMW. Max Friz's R32 design was granted production in the year 1923 and was introduced to market as BMW R 32 motorcycle. Max Friz's R32 design did very well in market as nearly three thousand bikes were sold in just three years.
